Michael Hancock appointed CEO of Tupu Angitu

The Board of Tupu Angitu is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Hancock as Chief Executive.

Michael, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Te Arawa Whānui, Tauranga Moana, Ngāpuhi, has been acting in the role since 1 October 2025 and was previously Tupu Angitu General Manager Investment.

Chair of Lake Taupō Forest Trust and Tupu Angitu Director, Tina Porou, said Michael’s appointment ensured continuity, stability and trust for the organisation and its partners.

“In his time as acting Chief Executive, Michael has shown his significant leadership capabilities and built valuable relationships and trust with our stakeholders. We’re looking forward to building on the momentum he has already generated as we take our next steps forward.”

Michael said there was enormous opportunity and a lot of good mahi ahead.

"Our focus is on strengthening the base: our existing relationships and portfolios, and delivering benefits back to our owners. Beyond the economic returns, we're also thinking about the wider aspirations we hold for the taonga we look after. It is a privilege to be in the position to do this mahi.”

The appointment is active immediately.
