Associate Directors Appointed to Tupu Angitu Board

He toki nō te ngahere,

Kua whakairohia hei toki rangatira, He uri nō te iwi

kua karangahia ki te pae o te whakaaro!

Tupu Angitu is proud to announce the appointment of our inaugural Associate Directors - Rhieve Grey and Shontelle Bishara.

Their appointments reflect our commitment to cultivating a pipeline of leaders grounded in whakapapa, mātauranga Māori, and a shared dedication to the long-term aspirations of our people and whenua.

Raised in Taupō, Rhieve (Ngāti Tūtemōhuta, Ngāti Manunui, Ngāti Porou, Te Arawa) credits his whānau and the Tūwharetoa hāpori for shaping the values and character that saw him succeed academically, including his Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford. With a postgraduate background in Public Policy, and recent work experience in foreign affairs/trade, housing and rangatahi development, Rhieve has returned home with his wife Amy to contribute his skills to the iwi that raised him.

Shontelle (Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine) brings extensive leadership experience in Māori development and public sector strategy, holding senior roles at Te Puni Kōkiri, the Tertiary Education Commission, Callaghan Innovation, GHA and now as Te Toihau Māori / General Manager Māori Futures at Scion. Shontelle serves as Chair of Te Mahau Marae Committee, undergoing a major redevelopment project and strongly demonstrates a clear passion for whenua-based innovation, Māori economic development, and intergenerational wellbeing.

Together, they represent a synergy of whakapapa, experience, and vision. Their presence at the Tupu Angitu board table strengthens our collective capacity to grow ngā hua o te whenua, while also growing the people who will one day lead it.

Haramai he tētēkura!
